Certain over the counter vitamins and supplements may be beneficial to improve overall foot health.

Biotin

Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin that’s a part of the vitamin B family. It’s also known as vitamin H. It is important for protein synthesis involved in strengthening nails. The daily dose of biotin is 300 micrograms daily.

Collagen

Taking collagen is associated with a number of health benefits and very few known risks. For starters, supplements may improve skin health by reducing wrinkles and dryness. They may also help increase muscle mass, prevent bone loss and relieve joint pain. Several foods contain collagen, including animal foods and bone broth. However, their absorption is not as efficient as that of hydrolyzed collagen found in supplements.

Zinc

Recent dermatological studies have shown that zinc supplements of 10 mg/kg daily can be used to treated viral plantar warts. This option is particularly therapeutic  in children in which warts keep reappearing.

Glucosamine

The glucosamine in your body helps keep up the health of your cartilage; the rubbery tissue that cushions bones at your joints. In most studies on treating osteoarthritis, the typical dose was 500 milligrams of glucosamine sulfate, three times a day.

Tumeric

Turmeric contains the chemical curcumin. Curcumin and other chemicals in turmeric might decrease swelling (inflammation). Because of this, turmeric might be beneficial for treating conditions that involve inflammation. These conditions include arthritis, tendonitis and generalized pain.
